  Tom Pauwels
Guitarist

Tom Pauwels, born in Bornem in 1974, studied guitar in Bornem, Brussels, Cologne, and Münster with Dirk De Hertogh, Albert Sundermann, Hubert Käppel, and Reinbert Evers, respectively. Together with the violinist David Nuñez he recorded a CD with classical works (Lyric Digital). He has also recorded for Ictus (Cyprès) with solo and ensemble works by Oehring, Harada, Romitelli, and Aperghis. Since the 1999–2000 academic year he has been taught guitar at the conservatory in Ghent as Yves Storm’s assistant. He plays guitar for the Ictus Ensemble, Black Jackets Company, and Plus-Minus. Since October 2002 is also active as an artistic adviser to Ictus. As a freelance guitarist he has been engaged several times by both the Ensemble Itinéraire and the Ensemble InterContemporain. From September 1998 to September 2003 he worked on a research project at the des Orpheus Instituts in Ghent, together with Jan Michiels as mentor. He participated in a concert of Elastic3 on the occasion of the ISCM World New Music Festival at Forum Neues Musiktheater in 2006.
