notes on electronic music composition


These quick notes are not supposed to be an essay or thesis. They quickly describe some of the social and aesthetic consequences with electronic composition. It concentrates its arguments on generative music. It starts with considerations from various artistic fields such as the question of its existence in classical contemporary music. It then tries to conceptualize a larger view of composition than purely musical or time-based. Finally, it gives a humble description of Olivier Pasquet’s current researches and questions.
