Kapteyn b is a possible exoplanet discovered in 2014. In his popular science book Petit Voyage dans le Monde des Quanta, Etienne Klein starts to compare the behavior of stellar objects with the one from particles. He explains in a very efficient way the fact it is not the same at all. Etienne Klein is, for me, the French Carl Sagan by the fact he is doing the promotion of another ambitious scientific exploration. Carl Sagan did it for several space probes expeditions in the 70’s such as the Voyager program or the Pioneer program. Etienne Klein does it for quantic scales at CERN for projects like the Large Hadron Collider.
Kapteyn b is a representation of the multiple paths a particle would take and traces it would leave inside an imaginary medium.

Kapteyn b is also a piece dedicated to Hiroshi Sugimoto. Besides his marvelous Seascapes, the photos he made by sending electric sparks through photographic negatives is simply a perfection between nature and the artist.
